Live Wedding Painting

The Process…

  • A woman with long, wavy brown hair is smiling while painting at an easel. She is wearing a beige top and is in a bright room with a white brick wall.

    Setting Up

I arrive at your venue 2-3 hours early and select the perfect location in order to best capture your moment.

My set up includes: a wooden easel, a chair (provided by venue), a 3x5 carpet (for indoor venues), paints & brushes, a black tripod for video capture, and my paint palette.

  • A person painting a landscape on a canvas, seated at an art station in a dimly lit venue with string lights overhead.

    Phase One

I begin a light sketch/painting of the environment including:

Indoor: chair & table layout, various details & decor, overall layout of the room, etc.

Outdoor: layout of ceremony area, flower details, pew or chair orientation, etc.

After the base painted sketch is completed, I begin a base layer of paint to block in large sections of color. Once this is finished, I begin subtle detail work until you arrive to your venue.

  • A woman with long, wavy brown hair painting a nature scene on a canvas, with a lamp providing light above her. She is sitting at an easel with a palette and brushes nearby.

    Phase Two

When you arrive at your venue and it’s time for the moment you’d like captured (entrance, first dance, first kiss, etc.), I take several photographs on my cell phone to guide my final painting.

These photographs allow for me to capture the moment in time, find the perfect frame to paint, and allow you to continue on with your special evening— no posing, standing still, or re-doing an organic moment.

  • Three smiling people, a man and two women, cover a painting of a church interior during a gathering or celebration indoors.

    Phase Three/ Final Stage

After the moment has been captured, I begin painting the final touches— such as bride & groom, wedding party & guests, and intricate details of the room. By the end of the evening, you will have your completed, one-of-a-kind artwork to take home with you.
